Sleep Like a Baby by Charlaine Harris - #review

In the latest installment of the #1 New York Times Bestselling Charlaine Harris's Aurora Teagarden series, Robin and Aurora have finally begun their adventure in parenting. With newborn Sophie proving to be quite a handful, Roe's mother pays for a partially trained nurse, Virginia Mitchell, to come help the new parents for a few weeks. Virginia proves to be especially helpful when Robin has to leave town for work and Roe is struck with a bad case of the flu.

One particularly stormy night, Roe wakes to hear her daughter crying and Virginia nowhere to be found. Roe's brother Philip helps her search the house and they happen upon a body outside... but it isn't Virginia's. Now, not only does she have a newborn to care for and a vulnerable new marriage to nurture, Roe also has to contend with a new puzzle - who is this mystery woman dead in their backyard, and what happened to Virginia? This heart-pounding and exciting next installment of the Aurora Teagarden series will leave fans happy and hungry for more.

MY REVIEW

So, your husband is going out of town for work.  You have a new baby.  And you're coming down with a prize-winning case of flu.  Just perfect...NOT!

You know what else probably didn't fill Roe's heart with glee?  Waking up wracked with the flu, Sophie is crying, and Virginia is nowhere to be found.  Something not right in the baby's sphere is just about guaranteed to send a new mom 'round the bend.  And to really put the cherry on top of the sundae of Roe's day, there's a dead woman in the garden.  Things in my neck of the woods are nowhere near that exciting...thank goodness!

As the situation unfolds, there is plenty of action and the story moves at a nice clip.  I know the book's description uses the words 'heart-pounding' and Sleep Like a Baby is that, but I would even go further and say that one moment was 'heart-stopping'.  And that was after the fact, like when you find out you were in danger and had no idea at the time.

This is the 10th book in the "Aurora Teagarden Mysteries", and I had no trouble jumping into the story from word one.  And now, I have nine more ("Aurora Teagarden 1-9") books to read.
